Experience the heat and the elements of Blacksmithing, done the traditional way on the forge, and learn the correct use of the hammers, tongs and other tools. Learn some of the history of Blacksmithing, and how metals react to heat, cooling, and stress.  Each student will learn fundamentals: basic forging, twisting, splitting, forge welding, how to manage a coal forge fire, and using a gas forge.

Supplies are provided, unless you have a specific project for which you will provide the appropriate material please clear with Martin when registering.

Class runs 9am to 5pm with a lunch break. Please plan to arrive early (8:30 am). You can bring a lunch, or there is a Subway within walking distance, and several restaurants. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate will be provided at the shop.

Class sizes are a minimum of 4 and maximum of 6.

You are responsible for supplying your own safety goggles, boots, long sleeve shirt and non-flammable clothing, and gloves.

A deposit is due on registration, payable online or by calling to register. The remaining balance is due prior to the start of the course. Students must sign a waiver of liability on arrival at the shop.

If you prefer a weekday class, please contact us and we will work around your preference. Ladies are welcome in any class. Private groups are welcome! All students must be 18 and over for liability reasons.

One Day Frying Pan Class – forge your own frying pan with a twisted handle, season, and cook a meal in class!
